Corporate Vice President, General Counsel & Corporate Secretary
Laura H. Witte serves as Corporate Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of Cargill, Incorporated. Together with a team of 184 lawyers and 170 professional staff, she oversees the legal needs of Cargill’s global businesses. She also serves on Cargill’s Brand Reputation Committee and its Business Conduct Committee. She is also Secretary to the Governance Committee of the Cargill Board.
Since joining Cargill in 1985, Laura has supported a broad range of Cargill businesses and built legal expertise in mergers and acquisitions. In 2001, she was named Asia-Pacific General Counsel and assumed responsibility for the delivery of legal services to Cargill’s emerging Asian businesses. In 2005, Laura moved to Brussels, Belgium to serve as Europe’s Deputy General Counsel. From there, she oversaw a growing legal team in Eastern Europe, Brussels and Geneva. She returned to the U.S. in 2008 as Vice President and U.S. General Counsel. In June 2010 Laura assumed her current role of Corporate Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary.
Laura serves on the Board of the Twin Cities Diversity in Practice, a consortium of law firms and corporate legal departments whose mission is to attract lawyers of color to the Twin Cities. She holds a bachelor’s degree in public policy from the University of Chicago and a J.D. from Drake University.
