Q&A With Gulzar Babaeva

What have you changed about your approach to diversity and inclusion as a result of your involvement with TCDIP?

I have learned the importance of mentoring, supporting, and coaching junior lawyers through TCDIP from my own experience.  As a young lawyer, I was supported and mentored by many lawyers that I met through TCDIP who played a vital role in my career.  Now that I’ve become a more senior lawyer myself, I ensure that I find the time to support and coach lawyers who are just starting out their careers.

What is your favorite TCDIP event, and why?

My favorite TCDIP event is the summer social. It is always fun to catch up with old friends and make some new ones!

Why is diversity and inclusion important?

Empirical evidence shows D&I benefit business from increasing innovation to better problem-solving to opening more opportunities–but the legal profession continues to lag, which is why we need organizations like TCDIP to help foster progress in this area.
