What inspired you to get involved with TCDIP or WILD?
I was initially inspired to get involved with TCDIP by the 1L Clerkship program – there wasn’t a program like it (that I was aware of) when I was a law student. It is such a unique and impactful opportunity for early stage law students to have exposure to both a law firm and a corporate work environment, in order to really help inform their future career path. It also helps law students to start networking and making professional connections that have the potential to shape their future career decisions and opportunities for many years to come.
What message would you share with the next generation of law students and early-career attorneys?
Be flexible in your thinking and open to opportunities when they present themselves. You don’t to have your entire career figured out right when you graduate from law school. You never know how a new experience might take you in a direction you never planned for yet can provide very rewarding and exciting career opportunities.
How can we ensure our work is resilient and impactful during times of uncertainty?
We can ensure our work is resilient and impactful by being a constant presence in an uncertain time. With so much change, it helps to know that some things remain the same. It is also important to provide space for community and connections – knowing you are not alone and having the ability to connect with like-minded people can have a huge impact.
In this moment, why is it more important than ever to invest in inclusive legal workplaces?
When employers invest in inclusive workplaces, employees are happier, more likely to stay, and obtain better results. Everyone can succeed in and benefit from an inclusive workplace.
