June 9, 12:00 PM: WILD Conversations: Addressing Systemic Racism in Education

Join us on June 9 for the next event in our WILD Conversation series! Our next event focuses on systemic racism in Minnesota’s education system. We welcome retired Supreme Court Justice Alan Page and Minneapolis Federal Reserve President Neel Kashkari to speak with our members and colleagues across the legal community about the Page Amendment. They will be joined by Minneapolis Federal Reserve Economist, Dr. Anusha Nath, and Minnesota Parent Union President, Rashad Turner in a discussion about our statewide academic disparities.

The mission of the Wanton Injustice Legal Detail (WILD) is to harness the collective power of TCDIP’s membership to remedy systemic anti-Black racism in the Twin Cities. Register today!

Save the Date: TCDIP Summer Alliance!

Save the date for this year’s Summer Alliance on July 13 at 5:30 PM! Refresh your summer and meet fellow attorneys of color and allies. Throughout the Twin Cities leaders from the TCDIP Community will host small groups outdoors. We will also have opportunities for small groups to meet virtually. You can pre-register today and stay tuned for more information!  Interested in hosting? Fill out our host sign-up!

Meet our ELG Co-Chair, Stephanie Chen!

We welcome Stephanie Chen to her new role as our 2021-2023 Emerging Leaders Group Co-Chair. Stephanie became involved with TCDIP through our 1L Clerkship program. “As a first-generation law student in my family at the time and not really knowing any lawyers, I’ve found TCDIP helpful for navigating the legal profession and its expectations. TCDIP has not only been a great way for me to connect with other attorneys in the community but also a fantastic avenue to share ideas and speak more frankly about DE&I issues in the legal profession.” Each year, Stephanie looks forward to our Summer Alliance! “It’s a time to celebrate one another, enjoy the warm summer weather, and appreciate the positive (though often small) steps taken towards creating a more diverse and inclusive Twin Cities legal community. It’s a good opportunity to get refreshed and ready to tackle the next challenge.” Join us in welcoming Stephanie to this leadership role!

Welcome to our 2021 1L Clerks!

Join us in welcoming our incoming class of 1L Clerks! We are excited to meet 32 1L students who will spend the summer working for TCDIP Member law firms and corporate legal departments. Throughout the summer you’ll hear from our clerks in this newsletter! If your organization is hosting a clerk, be sure to reach out and get to know them this summer! If you’d like to join a virtual networking session for our 1L Clerks, email Liz Niemer at events@diversityinpractice.org
