Resources for Healing and Addressing Systemic Racism

Heal: April 22 – 30: More Community Listening Sessions 

Please join TCDIP, the Minnesota State Bar Association (MSBA), the Minnesota Association of Black Lawyers (MABL) and Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers (LCL) for support sessions for legal professionals. These support sessions are intended to be a safe and open space where members can share, listen, support, and acknowledge those experiencing trauma, pain, fatigue, and emotional distress. There are sessions that are open to all, open to Black legal professionals, and session for all people of color. See the schedule below and register for the session that applies to you.

Sahan Journal has gathered information about how you can support people in Brooklyn Center through donations and mutual aid.

Discuss: Legal Rights Center: Updated Toolkit

The Legal Rights Center has published a toolkit to use as a resource for communities using restorative practices to process the ongoing trials of the officers involved in the murder of George Floyd. Their toolkit includes information and guidelines for leading discussions about the trial and engaging in restorative practices, as well as extended circle guides on different topics associated with the trial. Over the past several months the Wanton Injustice Legal Detail has hosted several conversations with a variety of speakers about addressing systemic racism in community safety. Each speaker has shared their views on the current policing system, as well as what next steps we can take. You can view all the videos on our youtube channel.

Heal: Black Emotional and Mental Health

BEAM is a national training, movement building and grant making organization dedicated to the healing, wellness and liberation of Black and marginalized communities. Their mission is to remove the barriers that Black people experience getting access to or staying connected with emotional health care and healing. This community-sourced list of BIPOC therapists is available for you to use and share. This list may be a good resource resource for anyone who is seeking initial information about available providers and services. Please feel free to share with anyone seeking this information! You can also visit the Cultural Wellness Center or Minnesota Association of Black Psychologists website for more service providers and resources.
