We are looking forward to this year’s Minnesota Minority Recruitment Conference on Friday, August 6, 2021. Employer registration is currently open!

What is MMRC?

Twin Cities Diversity in Practice (TCDIP) is a nonprofit association of leading Twin Cities legal employers with a single mission: to attract, recruit, advance, and retain attorneys of color in and around the Twin Cities. For over 15 years, TCDIP has organized the Minnesota Minority Recruitment Conference (MMRC) to connect legal employers in the Twin Cities metro area with rising 2L and 3L students of color from across the country. MMRC will connect employers with law students who are seeking summer positions for 2022 or post-graduation employment. TCDIP actively promotes MMRC to law schools and student affinity groups across the country.

On August 6, 2021, legal employers will connect virtually with pre-screened candidates. The main event is a full day of 20 minute formal interviews. All employers are invited to participate, including small, medium, and large firms; corporate law departments; and public interest, nonprofit, and government entities. Employers are not required to be a member of TCDIP to participate in MMRC.

How Does MMRC Work?

The goal of MMRC is to help you diversify your recruiting pipeline and conduct initial interviews with law students of color.

Employers with outstanding invoices will receive a follow-up email regarding payment.

Starting this year, MMRC is using the 12Twenty platform. You can find more information about how to create an account and register in 12Twenty here:

2. May 10 to June 24: Students register and apply. After employers register and a submit a job description, students review the open positions and submit their application materials to employers.

3. July 7 to July 15: Employers select interview candidates and alternates. During this time, employers can see the application materials of all students who applied for their job posting. Employers select 14 candidates for a full day (or 7 for a half day) and at least an equal number of alternates (14 for a full day, 7 for a half day). Employers select alternates in case there are any open slots in schedules or if a student cancels an interview. Employer selections must be submitted through the employer’s 12Twenty account by 11:00 pm CST on July 15, 2021.

4. July 19 to July 23: Students review employer selections and accept or decline interview and alternate spots in 12Twenty. Students will be allowed to accept a maximum of 10 interview spots. If a student declines an interview slot, that slot will be offered to an alternate candidate from the employer’s list.

5. July 30: Interview schedules announced. Employers and students can view schedules on 12Twenty.

6. August 6: MMRC Interview Day! Virtual interviews will take place using the video conferencing links provided by employers. Each interview is 20 minutes long with 10-minute breaks between interviews. MMRC starts off with a welcome session at 8:30 am. There is a lunch break from 12:20 pm to 1:30 pm.

TCDIP is committed to a policy against discrimination in employment based upon age, sex, race, religious belief, ability, veteran status, sexual orientation, or national origin.

TCDIP will update registered employers and students with more information about next steps and the virtual interview process.
